Overview of Idea

Stone Soup Theatre Project and Animate Objects are collaborating on an ensemble performance depicting the moment of change in the lives of individuals who transformed their violent backgrounds into stories of community leadership.

The Specifics: What will the $5,000 fund?

The GOOD Maker award will be used to produce a theatrical performance based on stories of local heroes with a hip-hop band as the orchestra pit. Turning Points will tour the Chicago communities where these stories of transformation take place by forming partnerships with local organizations and schools for performance spaces and outreach. The award funds will be used to design and produce promotional materials, rent sound and lighting equipment, run workshops with local youth, pay stipends to performers and support staff, and offer donations for the use of community spaces.
