Overview of Idea

Musicians On Call brings live music to the bedsides of patients in healthcare facilities through our Rock a Patient’s World Bedside Performance Program. We believe that music has the power to promote and complement the healing process for patients, their families, and caregivers.

The Specifics: What will the $5,000 fund?

Imagine being in the hospital with an illness or injury. After a difficult day an MOC volunteer guide knocks on your door asking if you would like to hear some music. If the answer is yes, a volunteer musician comes in and plays a song just for you. We have seen miraculous changes. Some patients have smiled for the first time since being in the hospital while others have had their day brightened by hearing a favorite song.

A $5,000 grant to the Rock a Patient’s World Program will allow us to bring live music to patients in 10 rooms at a healthcare facility in New York City for one year. This money will help us provide supplies, transportation, and training for our volunteers in addition to covering our program’s administrative expenses.
