The queer and trans community of NYC take the stage to share their stories through theater! Using Theatre of the Oppressed, performances creatively spark dialogue and engage the audience to address the issues of homelessness. A partnership between The Forum Project and Queers for Economic Justice
This program will provide queer and trans shelter residents with tools to address homelessness and communicate their stories to others, and will motivate the larger community to take action! This grant will help launch the project, which we hope to make an ongoing program.
Our budget is razor-thin! This grant will cover the participation of 15-20 queer, lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and gender-nonconforming shelter residents:
TRAVEL via public transportation to/from workshop, performance and possible rehearsals.
FOOD, since they will miss meals at the shelter.
PERFORMANCE COSTS, including theater rental and costumes.
PRINTING COSTS for outreaching to the community.
STAFF SUPPORT to fund social workers, organizers and experts
