Overview of Idea

Medicinal Melodies is a new student volunteer organization at Macalester College that provides music to those suffering from illness in the Minneapolis/St. Paul community. Last semester, we had a benefit concert for a local nonprofit. This year, we want to make it better.

The Specifics: What will the $5,000 fund?

We will be putting on a benefit concert to support the work done by the American Cancer Society Hope Lodge just down the street in St. Paul, MN. We have gone there to perform many times and are inspired by the work that is done there. $5000 will go towards space rental and security on campus for the event, busing local cancer patients to the event, providing refreshments, renting sound system, and hiring local talent to perform in the benefit with the group. Any money remaining after the event will be used to record and produce a cd of our music to be given out at the American Cancer Society Hope Lodge in St. Paul, MN.
