Overview of Idea

We are fundraising for and managing the construction of CityWalk Playground, which will be a safe and close place for children living at CityWalk@Akard (some of whom were previously homeless) to play. We plan to cover the walls of this outdoor covered space with beautiful and fun murals.

The Specifics: What will the $5,000 fund?

We will ask local artists around Dallas to help with the murals, and we will hold design charrettes for the children living at CityWalk@Akard to help design the murals. The $5000 will fund paint primer, paint, and painting supplies for the wall murals. We would also like for it to help fund sculptures (designed by local artists with assistance from the children) such as solar system themed sculptures that can be suspended from the ceiling above the covered area. We are raising funds for the playground (shown in the video) separately, but we would love to have funding to help support art for the children and residents at CityWalk@Akard to enjoy! Concepts for the art will be showcased at a CityWalk Playground fundraiser on October 5th.
