Arts Ed Matters

Overview of Idea

Arts Ed Matters - a SF based arts education advocacy org will offer Family Art Nights at local San Francisco public schools to engage parents in the vital importance of arts in schools. The evenings will be engaging & hands-on for youth and parents, & filled with direct advocacy strategies.

The Specifics: What will the $5,000 fund?

The $5,000 grant will enable us to bring highly qualified teaching artists in both theatre and visual arts to ten local SFUSD schools to offer an evening of art making, celebrating the power of the arts, and a presentation on why the arts matter and how parents can get involved at their child's school site. The funds will cover artist fees, art supplies, development of curriculum, promotional materials, advocacy training, transportation, and a follow-up meeting at each school to plan continued support of their programming. We anticipate attendance at each school site to range from 40-100 participants including teachers, administrators, staff, parents, and students. There are many amazing projects in this round. Please vote for our project!
