Overview of Idea

The Mallarme Chamber Players proposes to present a festival of chamber music performed on period instruments with historically informed performance practices. Mallarme, in collaboration with 4 other organizations and a university music department will present a week-long festival in the winter 2013.

The Specifics: What will the $5,000 fund?

$5000 will fund fees to musicians, guest artists, teachers & to market the new festival, taking place from 1/27- 2/3, 2013. Five ensembles: Mallarme, Baroque & Beyond, Alienor, The Vivaldi Project, Ensemble Vermillian & the UNC-Chapel Hill music dept. will work together to present 6 concerts, 3 master classes, 6 in-school programs & 4 workshops in Durham & Chapel Hill. Our intent is to make all the associated educational activities and several of the concerts free of charge and can only accomplish this by outside fiscal support. Since this festival is brand new, we need assistance by hiring someone to help to brand and publicize the events. We want to make this an annual event & desire the pilot festival to be an overwhelming success!
