The Kids Need Art Program provides FREE art education to elementary level students in Flint, MI. It was created after Flint Community Schools eliminated their art education budgets and programs from elementary schools. Let's give our children a better, well rounded education, starting with art!
This grant will help provide the necessary supplies for over 700 students including a larger variety of mediums beyond crayons and construction paper. We would like to be able to purchase items like canvases, multiple sizes of paint brushes, and sculpting clay (one of our buildings has a working kiln that has been maintained but not used for over two years due to lack of funding for the supplies). This grant will also provide us with the funds to take our older students on a trip to the Flint Institute of Arts to meet professional artists and get a chance to see them at work. ALL funds will go to trips and tools to provide elementary students with a well rounded, creative education better enabling them to compete in higher grade levels.
