A communal installation of knitted work created for display on the Museum's plaza. Installed over night, the work will be featured prominently during two large community events. This program plans to connect knitters and crafters of all ages, while visually enhancing the community with the works.
This program is free and will cost nothing from the community or the knitters involved. With the funds, the Museum will be able to host free workshops to involve as many knitters in the community as possible. Hosting these workshops in advance is crucial to the execution of a large scale yarn-bombing of the Plaza. The cost in scheduling knitting instructors, purchasing multiple sets and sizes of needles and types of yarn for all participants to use will come from the funds. Documentation of the temporary installation will take place as well. Funds will be used for the time and cost it requires to update blogs and websites where this will be shared. Remaining funds will be used for landscaping and clean up once the installation comes down.
