ArtVan a mobile arts therapy program that brings the arts directly into neighborhoods with the highest needs for social services. Youth create art on roller shades that represent their unique stories showcased by businesses that travel thru the 6 towns fostering cross-town and cultural understanding
$5000 will go towards the materials needed to bring the project to each of our neighborhoods in Bath, Brunswick, Lewiston-Auburn, and Biddeford, Maine (most of which see up to 25-30 youth/2hr session), the fuel needed to bring our colorful, ArtVan to each neighborhood and to transport the moving exhibits, and paid staff time to oversee and implement the project. ArtVan always brings the necessary materials to complete a project and guarantees the presence of a licensed art therapist and co-facilitating artists at each of its programs to help with not only the art making, but also to strengthen relationships, and connections with all of the youth it services while building larger community awareness and support in a non-judgmental way.
